The Vocational College of Vammala

The Vocational College of Vammala is part of The Vocational Institute of Vammala with 700 full-time students. A federation of municipalities in Vammala region owns the institute.

This College is a multidisciplinary vocational institute offering courses for many sectors of working life. The vocational training offered by this college takes from two to three years. The school year is divided into two seasons. The autumn season starts in the middle of August ending for Christmas holidays. The spring season begins in January and traditionally ends on the 31st of May.

The college gives its students the appropriate practical skills together with the theoretical background needed in the future profession. Vocational training includes both practical training at school workshops and on-the-job instruction in nearby industry. Each qualification includes a diploma project that brings together different aspects of studies. Theoretical instruction consists of general and vocational subjects. General subjects are e.g. Finnish, English, Swedish, Mathematics, Data processing, Social Sciences and Sports. The students also have a number of different optional courses e.g. car maintenance, hairdressing or baby clothing, Internet etc. Thus the students are not restricted to their own departments but are able to follow their hobbies. After graduation the students can work in various enterprises or start a workshop of they own. They can continue their studies in higher vocational institutes, polytechnics and universities.

Karkku college for home economics and social services

Our vocational institution offers vocational upper secondary as well as additional vocational training in the fields of Social and Health Care, Household and Consumer Services (general and special needs vocational training), providing general eligibility for higher education at polytechnics and universities. Students may also attend general upper secondary education and take the matriculation examination together with the vocational qualification.

Tyrvää School of Arts and Grafts

The 100-year-old school with its six departments (Woodwork / Joinery, Goldsmith's profession, Stage Setting, Interior Design, Stonework and Bookbinding) offers the student a wide range of courses in both practical and theoretical subjects. The qualification of an artisan lasts from 2,5 to 3 years, and it consists of 120 credits. Further professional courses are also provided.
